Hi there! I’m Ben. I am an illustrator, designer, and creative consultant living and working in Colorado Springs, CO. I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, an avid jiu jitsu practitioner, a mountain biker, a husband and father, and a lover of retro aesthetics, clean design, and offbeat/macabre artwork.
As a creative, I tell stories all the time. Whether I’m drawing custom artwork for someone’s band merch, creating designs for a business’s ad campaign, or coming alongside an entrepreneur to refresh their brand so that it showcases who they are, I approach all of it with each unique story in mind. Good, authentic design starts with a story. The stories we tell ourselves, our families, our friends, or our clients all set the tone for how we want to be perceived and treated. It is no different with designing for a business venture.
It is my mission at Ben Thimell Design Lab to help your business, mom and pop shop, start-up, entrepreneurial endeavor, or non profit to tell your story in a way that your audience and clients can understand, resonate with, and connect to.
HOW MAY I BE OF SERVICE?
Illustration
I have been illustrating and painting for over 15 years and I have a Bachelors degree in Illustration from CU Denver. I can create custom illustrations and artwork for all sorts of projects from book covers and band merch to ad campaigns and event posters. I can work in a variety of styles and mediums from traditional drawing and painting to ink and gouache all the way to digital. I do not use AI to create my drawings. They are drawn by me, a real life human being.
Design
I can design for any type of project or job. I have worked with numerous clients in multiple fields from electrical to fitness to realty and worked on projects ranging from brand refreshes to print mailers and logo design. I am well versed in typography, vector artwork, print layouts, website design (outside of any coding), logo-marks and logo-types, brand identities and brand guides.
Creative Consulting
You may not be in the market for any new design project services but might require someone with the proper experience and eye for it. If this is you, I also provide consulting. This would include getting all of your current brand assets and marketing materials on the same page and creating brand guides, streamlining your brand identity, and helping you understand the best strategy for your brand to take aesthetically and on messaging to best serve your clientele.
